Communistic or Capitalistic?

How very interesting....

One of my co-workers is pretty much a conservative libertarian. He's a hunter, fisher, and he and I disagree on most things political. However with that said, he is probably one of the guys I enjoy most in the office. He's pretty laid back, has a biting sarcastic humor, and is just a good guy.

So both of us had learned about that Supreme Court's decision and he turns to me and says, "How communistic!" I blinked back in surprise. "Communistic? You mean Capitalistic! This is a private corporation going after an individual's property."

He said, "Yeah, but it's government who is giving it to them, so isn't that Communistic?"

I just blinked stupidly, not even knowing how to address this.

In my mind, this was a case of the government bending over to accommodate a corporation. This wasn't communism at all. Communism, in its purest form which is probably unattainable due to human nature, is about sharing resources and wealth and distributing it equally to all. How can this be considered as communism?

In a way, I could see it from his point of view... but how would I go about changing this world view?

Clear the way for Economic Growth!

Okay, we have to start a section called Bwahahahahahas cause there's just too many not to categorize them.

Today's entry comes courtesy of Freestar Media, LLC. These wonderful people are proposing to build a hotel called the Lost Liberties Hotel on a Supreme Court Justice's home. Since they deemed it constitutional that a region can take away private property and give it away to another private person for economic development, why not go after a Justice's home.

The Thing I miss Most

Ugh. She's gone for less than 24 hours and I miss her. The thing I miss most?

Sending her links through AIM. She and I chat throughout the day with both of us sending each other links. It's actually a wonder she and I talk so much in addition to our IM'ing.

Anyway, I just had about three links I wanted to show her. *sigh* And 3-1/2 more hours of work to go. However, I just received notice that my bifocals are in and I can go pick them up tonight.

*heavy sigh* Bifocals. I remember the day my mother got hers.

Sim City 4

We're spending waaaaaay too much on games. But here's my latest acquisition: Sim City 4 for the Mac. I owned the original Sim City, then got into The Sims and never looked back. This weekend, I thought, hmm since Bratworse is going away for a week, how will I keep out of trouble? I know! Get Sim City 4!

Okay, aside here. I just have to say, that one of the BIGGEST PET PEEVES I have, is being ignored in the Mac section of CompUSA. Is it cause I'm a girl? Is it cause I'm standing in the Mac section? I saw TWO employees helping out ONE person and neither employee would look my way.

Anyway, back to Sim City 4. I'd forgotten how much fun it was to zone some land, then wait and watch Sims move in, upgrade the housing, and zip around a city I zoned. And yes, it TOTALLY qualifies as a stoner game.

Blow bubbles, not smoke

Dang it! I knew I forgot to do something at the Pride Parade yesterday.

Bratworse and I ran into a friend, who was wearing a bottle that said "Blow bubbles, not smoke." We meant to go get one each, but somehow forgot.

Speaking of NOT blowing smoke... it's been about 3 months now since I quit smoking cigarettes. Yesterday was a tad of a chore... I smelled fresh smoke almost every where I went. Oh, and my dreams haven't been helping either. I've been dreaming of cigarettes and smoke.

As always, I am reminded that I will never be a non-smoker. Just a smoker who doesn't smoke anymore.

Happy Birthday Guitarist (my secret code name for ya, everyone's got a secret code name originated by me!

Eventually I'll figure out something neat to either get you or put up for you.

I thought about drawing something, but you're a much better drawer than I, so that option was defeated. Than I thought about saying something real nice and sincere about you on my page, but the only thing that comes to mind when I start thinking about you is:

bourbon chicken and plantans

to watch a delivery and pick-up in action. During the S.F. pride parade, Bratworse and I witnessed the following:

The biker was part of the bike messenger contingent; wonder if he got more than a signature for the delivery of the pink rose?
