Magic Trees

Last night, we had Lone Wolf over for dinner for her birthday and among the many surprises we had in store for her, one of them is these cool cool crystal trees!

The cardboard has been sprinkled with crystal growing stuff. You then pour packets of pre-mixed liquids into channels the carboards are stuck in, and the cardboard slowly soaks up the liquid and forms these pretty crystals into a pre-made scenery for you.

It's great fun watching the crystals appear and so far, I've not found a SINGLE age-bracket that hasn't enjoyed this simple project.

Here's a link to Amazon for this.

Cheap fun! The best of its kind.

By the way, you can see from the picture above that our magic garden set isn't fully develop. It should take another 12 hours before we get the full vista I think.

Fishies!!!!

My new co-workers went to this blog today and saw photos of the damsels. 'Resigned Idealist! Is that your fish that you keep talking about?'

Sheepishly I had to explain how I haven't had much inclination to write and how those damsels are no longer with us and how we have new fish.

So, by special request, here's what's in our tank!

Soaked Duck

As I was driving to pick Bratworse up from school after work today, I was stopping and going on the 80, when I looked over to the shoulder of the freeway and saw a duck.

Yes, a fowl. A winged creature.

It was just sitting on the side of the freeway, sodden and barely moving, all the while being pelted by driving rain.

I just spent 10 minutes talking to various shelters around the Berkeley area trying to get someone to rescue it. I hope it's okay.

Endless Oceans, Yet Another Stoner Game!

Bratworse bought me this game this week.... Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

It's supposed to be a big secret because somehow, she feels embarassed that we own a copy of this, but she's been just as into it as I have been.

It's Endless Ocean for the Wii. Basically you get to explore... you got it! An endless ocean.

I highly recommend it as a stoner game.

Damn I'm Proud to be a Woman

Women overwhelmingly voted for Clinton tonight as a fuck you to the media who tried to portray her as wimpy when she teared up the other day. These men who mocked her, are the same ones who swooned over Dumbass in the White House whenever he paraded in one of his uniforms, the ones who praised him every time he shed a crocodile tear over a tragedy.

Yeah media keep it up. The ONLY reason I'm leaning towards Edwards right now is because of how you're ignoring him. Just keep on belittling Hillary Clinton. I'll just as gladly cast my vote for her, or Obama.

Moral of the story? Friggin treat our candidates with respect. They've earned it. Friggin' treat Dumbass with derision. He earned it.

When is the Media Going to Realize...

That each one of the Democratic top-runners are as good as each other and each voter would vote for all three. The vote isn't against the others, like in the Republican primary, but a true preference?

I would have absolutely NO problem casting a vote behind Edwards, Clinton or Obama. Can the Republicans say the same of their top three?

Dumb media... next primary, watch Edwards win.

Contrary Iowans

I've always had a special fondness in my heart about Iowa, due to the Music Man and "Iowa Stuborn". Especially the phrase, "You really ought to give Iowa a try, provided you are contrary."

Part of me really hopes that Iowans are contrarians, and that I would be welcome and recognized as one of them.

Tonight, they seemed to have shown their contrarian side to the rest of the country and to the media. Obama won tonight in the Democratic Caucus and Huckabee won the Republican Caucus.

Why was it a contrarian view?

Guiliani was the media's appointed boy after McCain flamed out early. Romney, while not #1 or #2, was still one of them. Huckabee and Paul aren't. Both McCain and Guiliani finished BEHIND Ron Paul? C'mon, if that's not contrary, what is?

To me, I'd have liked it if Dodd did a better showing, but he seems to be wearing the mantle of crusader for the Constitution quite well. Had you been able to stick around until February, I'd have been proud to have cast my primary vote for you, Senator Dodd. It wasn't until your (threatened) filibuster to stop the FISA bill that I had made up my mind to vote for you.

Clinton is much the media's and country's idea of establishment. I just read Arianna Huffington's op-ed about the primaries and the reason why she lost, but I think it really wasn't just Bill and what he said. I believe that most of the reason why she lost is because we just had 20 years of Bush-Clinton. Do we really want another 4 years of Clinton and to the general public, is there any separation of Bill and Hillary?

Biden and Dodd has dropped out but their total combined support was less than 2%. Kucinich didn't even register. Richardson got 7%, a better showing than I'd have thought. As for Gravel not dropping out of the race, my only response is, who?

So now, back to wondering who I'll vote for. I'm leaning towards Edwards, but truth be told, there's strengths and weaknesses in all the candidates. Boy, this is going to be hard.
